Actor Chris Pratt says in a new interview that his Christian faith shapes his daily life – from morning to night – and that he is instilling that worldview in his children.

Pratt opened up about his faith while talking to Fox News Digital ahead of the Season 2 launch of The Terminal List, a Prime Video action thriller series in which he stars as a Navy SEAL caught in a dangerous conspiracy. It is rated TV-MA.

“I'm always gonna be a man of faith. My faith is how I start my day, it's how I end my day,” Pratt told Fox News Digital. “It's the most important thing that I'll be able to pass on to my kids.

“It's an incredible blessing to be a father. It's also a lot of hard work. And so I think I just want to teach them that. … I don't know, I want to do my best. I basically want to get right everything my dad got right and get right everything my dad got wrong. And I'm sure I'll screw up both, you know?”

Pratt is best known for his roles in the Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises but also has voiced lead characters in The Garfield Movie, the Lego Movie, and the Super Mario Bros. franchises.

He is one of Hollywood’s most outspoken Christians, often posting comments about prayer and Scripture on his Instagram account. His bio on that social media channel reads simply: “God first.”

Pratt has a role in the new faith-based project Pétros Ení, a documentary exploring the Apostle Peter’s tomb and his remains, purportedly beneath St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican.

Earlier this year, Pratt said during an appearance on Ben Sasse’s podcast Not Dead Yet that Scripture is central to his worldview.

“My entire worldview is shaped on my understanding of God and on what I've learned from reading the Bible,” Pratt said.

He paraphrased a quote from Christine Caine: “If the light that shines upon you is brighter than the light within you, then the light that shines upon you will kill you.”

“That's why I need God, because having a nice house and a cool car, and the ability to go on whatever fishing trip I want” doesn’t satisfy, he said.

Pratt joked that even if he bought everything in the Bass Pro Shops catalog, he would still be left feeling empty.

“But it doesn't fill the hole inside of my heart that is in a very specific shape – God is the only thing that can fill it,” Pratt said.

Last year, he told The Christian Post that he feels called to be “that city on the hill at this moment in my life.” He quoted Matthew 5:14.

“You take a risk, I think, being in the entertainment world [in] being vocal about anything that's divisive – and religion is divisive, and so is politics. I don’t care enough about politics to take a stand one way or another at the expense of my career. But I do care enough about Jesus to take a stand, even if it costs me. If it costs me everything, I don’t care,” Pratt told The Christian Post.

“It’s worth it to me because this is what I'm called to do. It's where my heart is. I'm a father of four. I want to raise my children up with an understanding that their dad was unashamed of his faith in Jesus and with a profound understanding of the power of prayer and the grace and the love and the joy that can come from a relationship with Jesus. That's something that’s really important to me.

“Anybody really close to me knows that already, but as people are learning that about me, it's an interesting thing, because you don't hear that from a lot from people in entertainment, but it's who I am.”
